SIMON WHITLOCK took Dragutin Horvat to finishing school as he fired his way through to the second round of the William Hill World Darts Championship at London’s Alexandra Palace.

The 2010 finalist ended his first round clash with stunning checkouts of 170 and 158 in the last two legs to progress, dropping just one leg in the process.

“I’ve got revenge on my mind but I’ll enjoy this win first,” said Whitlock, who will take on Darren Webster next – the man who beat him in last months Players Championship Finals and at Ally Pally two years ago.

“I’m really happy. I love a 170 as everyone knows, but I’ve been playing really well again recently and it feels like it’s all coming good for me at the right time.

“I played well but I know I can play better and I will have to against Darren and if I go even further in the tournament.”
