Whitlock Eyeing Winning Streak

Simon Whitlock believes he has every chance of making the McCoy’s Premier League play-offs after a glorious few days for the Australian.

Whitlock grabbed a crucial victory on night ten of the McCoy’s Premier League Darts season on Thursday and followed it up by winning a
PDC Pro Tour title on Saturday.

‘The Wizard’, who had survived elimination from the televised tournament a week earlier, kick-started his campaign to reach May’s
finals night with a fine 7-4 success against Robert Thornton on Thursday evening.

He then clinched further glory on Saturday when he produced a fantastic run to take victory in the fifth UK Open qualifying event of the
year.

The world number five saw off six players to scoop the £6,000 first prize in Wigan, which he sealed with a brilliant 6-1 final success over van Gerwen, who went on to win Sunday’s event.

Whitlock was delighted with his week’s work and warned rivals that his best form is yet to come.

He said: “It has been a massive few days for me and I’m thrilled to bits.

“The Premier League win against Robert was huge because it keeps me in with a chance of reaching the Play-offs. I believe I can get there
again but there is still work to do.

“I had some tough matches in Wigan on Saturday so it was probably one of my best wins ever, especially with beating Michael in the
final.

“Last time I won a floor event it gave me the confidence to go on and win the European Championship so hopefully I can take that form into
the rest of the Premier League.

“I am playing well but my best is definitely yet to come.”

Whitlock will return to Premier League action on Thursday in Dublin, when the bearded Aussie takes on Andy Hamilton.
