Whitlock Bidding to be PDC Master

Determined Simon Whitlock has spoken of his pride and excitement at booking his place in the newest tournament on the darts’ calendar as the world’s leading stars prepare to head to Scotland.

Australian Whitlock, who is sponsored by leading paint brand Leyland Paints*, is in action this weekend in the inaugural Masters event.

The top 16 players in the world will do battle at Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with fourth ranked Whitlock taking on Mervyn King on the opening night. Continue reading

Simon ‘The Wizard’ Whitlock won through to the quarter-finals of the World Grand Prix by dispatching of Ronnie ‘The Rocket’ Baxter in straight sets on Wednesday evening in Dublin.

Whitlock Eyes Second Major

Darting star Simon Whitlock is confident his wait for a second career major will come to an end during a packed conclusion to 2013.

The 44-year-old Australian is eager to add to his 2012 European Championship success and has his sights on the five big tournaments on the calendar between now and the end of the year, starting with next week’s World Grand Prix in Dublin.

Since the last televised major in the UK – the World Matchplay in July – Whitlock has reached the semi-finals of the Sydney and German Masters and the ‘Wizard’ believes his form makes him a strong contender for the forthcoming events. Continue reading

Simon Whitlock has signalled his intention to finish the year with a flourish after enjoying a hero’s return to his native Australia in August.

Whitlock may have lost out to eventual winner Phil Taylor in the semi-finals of the inaugural Sydney Darts Masters but insists that a visit to his homeland has given his confidence a huge boost.
