Whitlock Brushes Up On World Matchplay Preparation

Simon Whitlock brushed up on his preparation for the upcoming World Matchplay with a trip to a leading paint manufacturer on Monday.

‘The Wizard’ was the star attraction at a darts day staged by his sponsors Leyland Paints at their headquarters in Birstall, West Yorkshire.

Fresh from his victory in the Shetland Darts Masters at the weekend, Whitlock played more than 100 members of staff from Leyland Paints in a special nine dart challenge. Continue reading

European Darts Championship: Whitlock Denied Title Defence as Lewis Scoops Jackpot

Simon Whitlock’s bid to defend his European Championship title was ended by Adrian Lewis in Sunday’s final.

Whitlock, whose 2012 victory in the £200,000 tournament was his first PDC major title, went down 11-6 to a relentless Lewis performance.

The Australian’s run to the final included victories over Colin Lloyd and the Huybrechts brothers; Kim and Ronny.

Simon Whiltock moved one win away from a successful defence of his European Championship title after defeating Ronny Huybrechts on Sunday evening.

Whitlock, who won his maiden major title at the tournament in 2012, booked his place in this year’s final with an 11-7 success over the Belgian.

Simon Whitlock produced an amazing fight-back to win his European Championship quarter-final against Jamie Caven on Sunday afternoon.

‘The Wizard’ won the last seven legs to turn around a 9-3 deficit, sealing the win with a spectacular 146 checkout with his opponent waiting on 56.

Whitlock, the defending champion, will face Ronny Huybrechts in this evening’s semi-finals, as he bids to retain his crown and win a second major title in the PDC. Continue reading
