Australian ace Simon Whitlock is eyeing a successful 2015 after Leyland Paints extended its successful partnership with the world number seven over the next 12 months.
Whitlock joins world number one Michael van Gerwen and former World Champion Mark Webster in continuing as ‘Team Leyland’ for the coming year.
Leyland Paints first became linked to one of the UK’s fastest growing sports when the leading paint manufacturer sponsored Whitlock and Webster at the end of 2011.
Van Gerwen was added to the elite line-up at the start of 2014 and the three stars will continue to represent Leyland Paints on the world’s biggest darts stages over the next 12 months.
“I’ve had a great three years with Leyland Paints and am delighted to be once again representing and working with them over the next 12 months,” said Whitlock.
“I wasn’t at my absolute best last year and hopefully I can get back to my peak form for the big tournaments this year.”
As well as ‘Team Leyland’ featuring in major events on the darting calendar throughout the last 12 months, van Gerwen, Whitlock and Webster have also been on hand to represent and promote the brand at a series of events across the UK.
They have included a number of private exhibitions for Leyland Paints customers and competition winners, which have provided money can’t buy experiences for a number of avid darts fans, and appearances at the National Painting & Decorating Show and a number of key stockists.
Vicky Jones, stockist brand marketing manager, said: “Leyland Paints has become entrenched in darts over the last three years and there is now an extremely close association between the brand and the sport.
“Michael, Simon and Mark are instantly recognisable faces and personalities in the world of darts and we are delighted to continue our link-up with them.
“The profile of the sport and the exposure it receives on television has allowed us to engage with customers and decorators right the way across the UK and we look forward to more of the same in 2015.
“Leyland Paints is renowned for getting the job done and hopefully the same will apply to our darting ‘Team Leyland’ over the next 12 months.”
Leyland Paints was formed in 1922 and has a long and distinguished history as a manufacturer and supplier of decorative paints, particularly targeted at tradesmen.
