Whitlock Leyland Link Extended

Simon Whitlock and Leyland Paints have announced extension of their partnership, with the West Yorkshire based company sponsoring the Australian ace for a further year.

The world number five, along with Welsh star Mark Webster, began an association with Leyland in 2011 and has enjoyed the most fruitful period in his career ever since.

Whitlock reached the final of the World Cup last February and went on to reach two more major finals, when he was runner-up in the prestigious Premier League before winning his first televised tournament at the European Championship.

The 43-year-old, who also won the Dutch Masters in 2012, is excited about his prospects for the coming year.

“The last 12 months have been very encouraging and I’ve been really pleased with my consistency,” said ‘The Wizard’.

“I’m desperate to keep being part of the later stages of major tournaments regularly in 2013 and I feel my game is in the shape to do that.

“The support I have received from Leyland in the last 12 months has been brilliant and I’m really looking forward to that continuing.”

Leyland Paints is delighted to remain at the heart of one of the UK’s fastest growing sports, which is attracting bumper television audiences and regularly packing out some of the UK’s biggest arenas.

“Leyland Paints enjoyed a fantastic year in darts,” said Victoria Jones, Stockist Brand Marketing Manager.

“To be firmly at the heart of a sport which is constantly seeing its popularity grow, has provided us with a unique and exciting opportunity.

“Mark and Simon have been excellent darting ambassadors for Leyland Paints and we are thrilled to be involved in the sport again for 2013.”

Both Whitlock and Webster will return to TV screens in February when they compete in the World Cup once more, representing Australia and Wales respectively.
