SIMON WHITLOCK followed up his weekend ProTour glory with a first round victory against Joe Cullen in the World Grand Prix in Dublin.
‘The Wizard’ came from a set down to claim a 2-1 win over his Yorkshire opponent as he won six of the game’s last seven legs to progress into the last 16.
The triumph followed Whitlock’s first ranking title for over two years and the Australian believes that the winning habit his finally returning.
“It has been a tough couple of years,” said the former European Champion.
“The win on Saturday was a long time coming and a rode my luck against Joe but maybe things are starting to turn for me.”
Whitlock will face Alan Norris in the second round on Wednesday.
