DEFIANT Simon Whitlock is confident of being a major threat in 2016 despite suffering a heartbreaking early exit in the World Championship on Saturday.

Whitlock had looked to be coasting to victory against Ricky Evans and was just one leg away from a second round spot when he led by two sets and two legs.

But the 2010 finalist missed two match darts before Evans launched an unbelievable comeback, eventually ending The Wizard’s hopes in a tie-break by finishing 130 with Whitlock waiting on tops. Continue reading

World Matchplay: Whitlock Finds Form in Blackpool but Runs into an Inspired Ian White

Image courtesy of Lawrence Lustig/PDCSimon Whitlock produced an excellent performance to move into the second round of the World Matchplay with a convincing win against Jelle Klaasen but couldn’t progress further after Ian White fought back to deny him in a place in the last eight.

The world number nine, who reached the semi-finals last year, rediscovered his form to defeat Klaasen 10-4 and looked set to keep it going when he led White 9-6 but the Stoke thrower won seven straight legs to win. Continue reading
