Premier League Darts: Whitlock Ready to Hit Top Form

Determined Simon Whitlock is confident his best form is just around the corner as he chases his first Premier League Darts victory of the season in Belfast on Thursday.

Whitlock takes on Raymond van Barneveld in the third week of the campaign in what is a vital game for the ‘Wizard of Oz’ and one he is approaching in a positive frame of mind.

“The first two games haven’t gone as I would have hoped but there is still a very long way to go,” said Whitlock, who is based in Waterlooville.

“I’m still very confident in my own ability and when I’m playing at my best, I know I’m more than capable of picking up the wins I need.

“I believe my best form is just around the corner and hopefully I can show it against Raymond in Belfast.

“He’s playing well at the moment but had a disappointing result against Dave Chisnall last week so it’s a big game for both of us.”

Whitlock insists his belief that he will climb the table remains as strong as ever.

“From the start, the aim was to be in that top four and qualify for the play-offs and that is still the target now,” he added.

“I’m working hard on the practice board and playing well and it’s just a case of trying to transfer that to the match board now.

“Getting that first win would be a major boost and really set me up for the rest of the season.”
